Welcome to StopMoShorts!
The purpose of this web site is to promote the art of Stop Motion Animation.
StopMoShorts.com is an online film festival where animators can submit their short films for public viewing. Each quarterly event will present a new challenge and we encourage anyone with an interest in puppet animation to participate regardless of your level of expertise. Beginners are especially welcome.
In addition, we offer to host content submitted by our users. Animators are encouraged to submit short films, test footage, tutorials and showreels. Most file types are accepted (including text and audio files) but for video, Quicktime is the preferred standard.
In this age of digital effects, Stop Motion Animation is fast becoming a rare and obscure art form. Help us keep it alive by participating!
This site was created by a handful of members from the online forum at www.stopmotionanimation.com. We wanted a convenient and fun way to share our animated short films and experimental footage.
Animators are encouraged to create short films that illustrate the ability to display emotion and character, establish a mood or atmosphere and to tell a story by combining these elements into a coherent thought or statement with emphasis placed on performance and story telling.
The term Visual Haiku was used to describe these short films. Like Haiku, a few restrictions or keywords may apply to present more of a challenge. These are meant only to stimulate creativity and not intended to be strictly adhered to.
Staff Members include: Nick Hilligoss, Mike Brent, Jason Gottlieb, Lionel Ivan Orozco and Eric Scott. Inspired from an original idea by Kelly Mazurowski.
